Emmet County's Register of Deeds has one of the better online access systems in northern Michigan. The free online search portal at emmetcounty.org lets you look up land records with a free registration. Images are available from 1852 and indexed records go back to 1922. You can search by liber and page, name, document type, recording date, or legal description. Copy fees run $1.05 per page.
The county also offers a FRAUD NOTIFY service. If you own property in Emmet County, you can sign up to get an email alert any time a document is recorded in your name. This is a free service through the Register of Deeds.

Emmet County Court Records and Case Search
Emmet County has three courts, all at 200 Division Street in Petoskey. The 57th Circuit Court handles felony cases, civil cases over $25,000, and family law matters. It is in Suite 130. The 90th District Court handles misdemeanors, civil cases up to $25,000, and traffic violations. Find it in Suite G12. The Emmet/Charlevoix Probate Court (District 7) is in Suite 280 and handles estates and guardianship.
Use MiCOURT at micourt.courts.michigan.gov to search Emmet County cases online for free. You can look up by party name, case number, or attorney bar number. Results show docket entries, case status, and hearing dates. Certified copies require a direct request to the court clerk. Non-public records like juvenile and mental health cases are not shown in the online system.
Note: The Probate Court at Suite 280 covers both Emmet and Charlevoix counties under District 7 jurisdiction.
Criminal History Public Records in Emmet County
