Calhoun County Clerk and Public Records Office
Calhoun County has two clerk and records offices. The main office is at 315 W. Green Street in Marshall. A second location is at the Calhoun County Justice Center at 161 E. Michigan Ave in Battle Creek. Both offices serve the public Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The combined Clerk and Register of Deeds office is run by Anne B. Norlander. Vital records requests can be made online through a form on the county site, or by mail, email, fax, or in person. The county offers more ways to request vital records than most Michigan counties. Seniors age 60 and older get reduced fees on vital records copies.

Calhoun County Court Records
Court records in Calhoun County fall under the 37th Circuit Court, the 10th District Court, and the Calhoun County Probate Court. The Justice Center at 161 E. Michigan Ave in Battle Creek serves as the main court facility. Court hours are 8 AM to noon and 1 to 5 PM. The main Justice Center number is (269) 969-6350.
Case information is searchable online through the statewide MiCOURT system at micourt.courts.michigan.gov/case-search/. MiCOURT is free and lets you search by party name, case number, or bar number. It shows docket entries and case status for civil, criminal, family, and traffic cases. Full case files are only available in person at the courthouse. Certified copies require a written request to the court clerk.
Note: Personal protection orders, juvenile records, mental health cases, and adoption files are not available in the online system.
Criminal History and Corrections Records
ICHAT is the primary tool for looking up criminal history in Calhoun County. Run by the Michigan State Police, it covers felony convictions and serious misdemeanors from all 83 counties. Each search costs $10 at apps.michigan.gov/ICHAT/. You search by name and the system returns results from the Michigan Criminal Justice Information Center database.
OTIS, the Michigan Department of Corrections Offender Tracking Information System, is free at mdocweb.state.mi.us/otis2/otis2.aspx. Use it to find current and former state prisoners, parolees, and probationers. Records are removed three years after discharge. Calhoun County Property Records
The Register of Deeds in Marshall handles all property records for Calhoun County. Documents recorded include deeds, mortgages, liens, land contracts, UCC filings, and plats. Two online search options are available. The Official Records Search portal lets you search by name, recorded date range, instrument date, property address, or liber page. A second platform adds parcel ID and legal description searching. Standard copy fees are $1 per page. Certified copies cost an additional $5. Plat document copies run $2 per page.
